In 2007, Nissan Automobile and NEC Group established a joint venture company AESC, with the crucial goal of quickly integrating NEC's battery cell technology into electric vehicles in a joint venture manner, in line with the development needs of electrification. The power lithium-ion battery used by Nissan Leaf is designed and developed by AESC. In April 2019, Vision Group announced the completion of the acquisition of AESC and established Vision AESC based on its original team and system.
Sakamoto Hideyoshi also responded during a group interview at the conference that the Vision AESC battery used on the Leaf not only has significant differences in structure compared to other batteries, but also has a self solving mechanism in the event of high-intensity severe impacts, as well as a special design for guarding against deterioration.
