Recently, China Energy Construction Anhui Institute won the bid for the EPC project of the energy storage system of the Three Gorges Energy Anhui Fuyang South Scenery Storage Base Project. This project is the largest grid-side electrochemical energy storage project in East China and the largest sodium ion energy storage battery project in China.

Project Rendering

The project is located in Funan County, Fuyang City, Anhui Province. It is to build a 300 MW/600 MWh energy storage power station, including 270 MW/540 MWh lithium iron phosphate battery and 30 MW/60 MWh sodium ion battery. A total of 81 sets of lithium iron phosphate energy storage units and 9 sets of sodium ion energy storage units are set up. At the same time, a 220kV booster station will be built, and the project is expected to be put into operation in June 2023.

According to the location and purpose of the energy storage power station, the application scenarios of energy storage are divided into energy storage on the generation side, energy storage on the grid side and energy storage on the user side. The grid-side energy storage power station refers to the energy storage power station planned in the vicinity of the UHV DC receiving end, the area with high permeability of new energy and the load center.

The construction of the grid-side energy storage power station can effectively improve the utilization efficiency of the power grid, participate in the auxiliary services of the power market, and improve the reliability of the power supply.

After the project is put into operation, it will promote the deep integration of wind power, photovoltaic, energy storage and large power grid in the base, improve the consumption of new energy and the safe and stable operation of power grid, which is of great significance to the clean and low-carbon transformation of energy in Anhui Province.

At the same time, it will provide Anhui power grid with fast and flexible peak shaving services and various auxiliary power services such as frequency modulation, rotating reserve, black start, etc., effectively promoting the transformation and development of new power systems.
