According to foreign media reports, GBatteries, an unknown YC (Silicon Valley Entrepreneurship Incubator) startup, boldly claims that it can quickly charge electric vehicles like refueling a fuel tank.

Silicon Valley GBatteries claims to be able to fully charge a 60kWh battery pack in 15 minutes.

GBatteries was co founded by special aerospace engineer Kostya Komutov, electrical engineers Alex Tkachenko and Nick Sherstyuk, and Chief Content Officer Tim Sherstyuk, with investment funds provided by Airbus Wind, Initialize Capital, Plug and Play, and Silicon Valley Angel Fund (SVAngel).

The system developed by the company utilizes artificial intelligence (AI) technology to optimize the charging system of electric vehicles. Khomutov said, "Most companies focus on developing new chemicals or materials (such as Enevate and Storedot) to improve the charging speed of batteries. However, developing new materials is difficult, and achieving mass production to meet the needs of automotive companies requires billions of dollars in funding, which is too high. Our technology combines software algorithms (AI) and electronic technology, and can be achieved using existing lithium-ion batteries that have been validated, tested, and produced by battery manufacturers

The company stated that its product allows users to fully charge a car equipped with a 60kWh battery pack and a range of up to 119 miles in 15 minutes. In contrast, current users can only restore the range of an electric vehicle to 15 miles in 15 minutes.

GBatteries stated that its technology combines existing lithium-ion batteries with existing fast charging infrastructure through patented built-in adapters on car charging ports, achieving fast charging. The company showcased this product at this year's International Consumer Electronics Show (CES).

Most charging systems rely on very primitive systems to charge batteries. Various factors such as temperature can slow down or even terminate battery charging. GBatteries has set up a charging model to solve this problem, which can "slow down" or "accelerate" charging when necessary, so the charging speed will be much faster under appropriate conditions.

Although it is not yet clear when this technology will be applied to commercial vehicles, it may be a breakthrough that can accelerate the replacement of fuel vehicles with more environmentally friendly ones.
