When the battery is in a low temperature environment, the viscosity of the electrolyte increases, and the movement of Li ions is hindered. The insertion and extraction of Li ions on the negative electrode surface disrupt the equilibrium state, causing a portion of Li ions to deposit on the negative electrode surface and cause lithium precipitation, resulting in a loss of battery capacity; When the battery is in an excessively high temperature environment, the activity of the electrolyte and active substances is high, and there will be side reactions and electrolyte decomposition inside the battery. On the one hand, this causes a loss of capacity, and on the other hand, gas will also appear due to the occurrence of side reactions, causing the battery to swell.

Lithium ion batteries experience an increase in electrolyte viscosity and a slower migration rate of lithium ions in low-temperature environments. When discharged at high currents at low temperatures, the released capacity will be relatively reduced; In high temperature environments, the same situation applies, but due to the occurrence of side reactions, capacity is lost and gas may cause swelling. The reference test temperature for general lithium-ion batteries is 23 ± 5 ℃, and the results of tests above or below this temperature may have some deviation.
