When using lithium batteries, it should be noted that after being left for a period of time, the battery enters a sleep state. At this time, the capacity is lower than the normal value, and the usage time is also shortened. But lithium batteries are easy to activate, as they can be activated and restored to normal capacity after 3-5 normal charging and discharging cycles. Due to the inherent characteristics of lithium batteries, they have almost no memory effect. Therefore, the new lithium battery in the user's phone does not require special methods or devices during the activation process.

Not only in theory, but from my own practice, it is best to use the standard method of charging from the beginning, which is a "natural activation" method.

There are many sayings about the "activation" issue of lithium batteries: the charging time must exceed 12 hours and be repeated three times in order to activate the battery. The statement that the first three charges require more than 12 hours of charging is clearly a continuation of nickel batteries (such as nickel cadmium and nickel hydrogen). So this statement can be said to have been a misunderstanding from the beginning.

There is a significant difference in the charging and discharging characteristics between lithium batteries and nickel batteries, so it is best to charge lithium batteries according to standard time and methods, especially not for ultra long charging exceeding 12 hours. Usually, the charging method introduced in the user manual is the standard charging method.

The activation of lithium batteries does not require special methods, and they will naturally activate during normal use. If you insist on using the popular "first three 12 hour long charging activation" method, it will not actually be effective.

Lithium batteries do not require activation, and the possible reasons and solutions for not charging are as follows:

1. If the charger interface is aging or the charger itself is damaged, replace it with a new charger for testing.

2. The metal in the charging hole is oxidized and causes poor contact, which is a hardware malfunction. It is necessary to contact after-sales for detailed inspection and repair.

3. There is an issue with the quality of the charging cable, please replace it with a new one.

4. The battery itself has reached its end of life or is damaged. Simply replace the battery.

Methods for activating lithium battery protection boards

Not all iron lithium battery protection boards need to be activated now, only some protection ICs need to be activated, and this is an old IC solution. The old IC solution requires this to make the protection boards not work, reduce electrostatic discharge energy, and make the lithium battery stored for a longer time. That's why the design requires charging activation.

If the iron lithium protection board needs to be activated by charging or completely disconnecting the load due to current limiting protection, it may be relatively troublesome. However, it is also possible to short circuit B - (battery negative) and P - (discharge negative) and release the protection. Remember not to carry a large load (such as the rotating bar being twisted continuously) when short circuiting, otherwise there may be a large spark. The fundamental reason is that there is a large pressure difference between the two ends of the discharge MOS after protection. Short circuiting and touching will directly reset the D-S level of the discharge MOS to 0V, and the protection will be released at this time.

The above is the activation method for lithium batteries. Lithium batteries are often activated at the factory, so buyers do not need to activate them again. It is recommended not to use a universal charger during the activation period. If the universal charger is not needed after reaching the normal usage period.
