What is a lithium battery? The negative electrode material of lithium batteries is lithium metal, and the positive electrode material is carbon material. According to the naming convention, we refer to this type of battery as a lithium battery. There are many names for lithium batteries, if they are classified from the material system, such as ternary lithium, lithium manganese, lithium iron phosphate, etc; From the perspective of battery applications, there are capacity type, rate type, and high rate type; From the perspective of usage environment, it can be divided into: high-temperature resistant lithium electronics, low-temperature resistant lithium batteries; In terms of appearance, there are various types such as steel shells, polymers, square shapes, 1865026650, etc. We cannot list them all here. Let's talk about lithium batteries used in electric bicycles.

At present, there are ternary lithium batteries and lithium iron phosphate batteries used in electric bicycles, as well as 18650 cylindrical and polymer soft packs, but the mainstream is 18650 cylindrical ternary lithium. The working voltage range of ternary lithium batteries is 2.5V-4.2V, with a nominal voltage of 3.6V. The lithium battery pack is composed of many batteries in series and parallel according to the capacity requirements of the voltage. For example, if a single battery with a capacity of 2Ah needs to be combined into a 36V/10A battery pack, then 5 batteries need to be combined. Then, if 10 batteries are connected in series, a total of 50 batteries are needed, totaling 18650; Lithium batteries are most afraid of overcharging and over discharging, so the battery pack and external circuit need to pass through a protective circuit to limit the upper and lower operating voltage of the battery. The series parallel connection of multiple batteries requires high consistency of the batteries, which means that the capacity, internal resistance, and discharge platform of a single 18650 battery must be the same; But then again, the world will never find two identical leaves, so it is absolutely impossible to make the same battery. We allow a certain gap, but the standards of each manufacturer are different, so the quality is also uneven.

What are the hazards of battery consistency? For example, in a 36V battery pack, if one of the batteries reaches the 4.2V protection value during charging due to various reasons, the charging function of the protection board will be turned off, even if the voltage of other batteries is still 3.9V and cannot be replenished. When discharging, those with low capacity will first reach the lower limit protection voltage value. Even if the battery has not been fully discharged, the protection board will turn off the discharge function, which is known as the short board effect! In this way, everyone should be able to understand that the pressure difference will cause the overall efficiency of the battery pack to be exerted, mainly reflected in phenomena such as shorter travel, power outage during cycling, and insufficient charging? So how to change this phenomenon caused by battery pressure difference? Apart from selecting the right battery and ensuring consistent pairing of batteries during the manufacturing of battery packs (which consumers cannot decide)??
