PhD students Li Hongfei and Tang Zijie, who participated in research and development work, both believe that lithium-ion batteries have emerged in the mobile phone market since 1996 and have only been around for more than 20 years. Their history in the electric vehicle market is shorter, so there is currently no problem with lithium production. However, with some countries requiring automobile factories to stop producing fuel vehicles and switch to producing pure electric vehicles within a certain time limit, it may lead to insufficient lithium production and rising prices. With a large amount of zinc reserves and low costs, the future prospects of zinc batteries are worth looking forward to, and we believe they can definitely occupy a seat in the charging pool market.

Recently, South Korean KIST scientists have developed environmentally friendly zinc ion batteries that are non combustible and non explosive. According to this study, the team's zinc ion battery still has nearly 100% storage capacity after 1000 charge and discharge cycles, and can maintain electrochemical stability even under extreme conditions (9000mA/g, full charge and discharge for two minutes).

Based on this stability, KIST researchers also made zinc ion batteries using flexible fiber substrates, which are more flexible and can be integrated into clothing and woven bags. According to senior researchers at KIST, zinc ion batteries have lower potential risks than lithium-ion batteries, and the team hopes that as the next generation technology, zinc ion batteries are safe for humans and will not cause explosions or fires.
