After research, there are three main reasons: internal short circuit, external short circuit, and overcharging.
Internal short circuit: If an internal short circuit occurs, the current of the lithium forklift battery will discharge, generating corresponding heat energy, causing the internal pressure of the battery to increase. If the quality of the protective board is not up to standard, there will be danger.
External short circuit: This refers to the external part of the lithium battery unit. When designing lithium battery forklifts, inadequate internal insulation can cause short circuits. Of course, this is just a factor, and it may also be caused by improper operation. When an external short circuit occurs, the protective board fails to cut off the circuit in a timely manner, which can lead to danger. This process is the same as the internal short circuit process.
Overcharging: Overcharging of forklift lithium batteries can cause changes in the internal structure. When the voltage is higher than 4.5V (depending on the battery pack, it may be higher), the electrolyte will produce a large amount of gas. If the protective board is not cut in time, there may be danger.
The safety hazards of lithium-ion forklifts are the above three points, which everyone has discovered. As long as the quality of the protective board meets the standard, the above situation can be avoided (or the risk can be greatly reduced). The quality of the protective plate is reflected in the supplier of lithium batteries for forklifts. Suppliers have strength, but of course, there are tricks on the protection plate. After all, if there is danger, the damage to the brand will be significant. For unscrupulous merchants, they may install substandard protective panels on battery packs to seek profits. This type of forklift lithium battery will enter the market, posing significant safety hazards. Of course, this is determined by the overall quality of the forklift's lithium battery, and there are also usage regulations: it should not be exposed to sunlight, cannot be knocked by external forces, and should be charged with an original charger.
