The new factory is located in Ibaraki Prefecture, northern Tokyo, with an initial investment of 50 billion yen (approximately 456 million US dollars) and an annual production capacity of 6GWh in 2023; In five years, the investment will reach 100 billion yen, and the annual production will reach 18GWh, which can supply batteries for approximately 163000 Nissan Leafs.

In 2018, Nissan sold its majority stake in AESC to Vision Group, but currently holds a 20% stake. However, according to insiders, Nissan closely monitors battery research and development and strives to ensure the supply of this critical component, therefore seeking to increase its shareholding or deepen its alliance with Yuanyuan Power.
