There are times when we don’t have a charger to charge our  devices. When this happens to you, don’t worry because there are plenty of tricks you can do to charge your rechargeable batteries without a charger. Do you want to know how you can do it? Check it out!

How to recharge rechargeable batteries without charger?

There are several ways you can recharge batteries without charger, namely by using batteries only and by using the rubbing method.

Charging Using Bare Batteries  Only

Step 1: Remove the battery from the device. Access to the battery's connecting points is required. Keep in mind that certain cell phone batteries are not designed to be accessible, so be informed of your options.

Step 2: Collect AA, AAA, or 9-volt batteries. Unlike the alternating current delivered by a wall outlet, the power produced by standard home batteries is identical to that provided by a mobile phone or camera battery.

Step 3: Find the positive and negative connectors for each battery. These will be printed on AA and other common home batteries. The positive connector on most mobile phone batteries is closest to the edge, whereas the negative connector is farthest away.

Step 4: Align the voltages of the charging and backup batteries (AA, AAA or other batteries that can give sufficient amount of power). A cell phone battery nowadays requires more than 3.7V DC to charge. As a result, the battery used such as the multiple AA or AAA batteries or a single 9V battery must remain idle in order to produce a charge.

Step 5: Gather two metal wires. Except for the exposed ends, which should ideally be protected with plastic.

Step 6: Tape or connect the wires to the charging battery. These wires might grow hot (if you do the steps properly, it won’t get hot). It also takes some time to transfer the charge. Because of that, you don't want to have to carry them all the time.

Step 7: Charge the battery after some sufficient amount of time has elapsed. Remember that it is unlikely that the battery is fully charged, but you should still be able to use the required device.

Charging by Rubbing Trick

If you have no spare batteries, you can do the rubbing trick to “charge” the battery:

Step 1: Take the battery out of the electrical gadget and hold the battery in your palms.

Step 2: Rub the battery gently with both hands back and forth. The purpose of this step is to create adequate friction and heat for the battery. Rep this procedure for 30 seconds to one minute (as long as you need).

Step 3: Replace the electronic device's battery. Make the most of your battery's remaining capacity while you can.

When you massage the battery, it does not charge. Like all true batteries, lithium ion cells create energy through chemical processes. These reactions will increase stronger as temperatures rise, according to the Arrhenius equation. Raising the temperature of the battery efficiently increases its conductivity.

How long to recharge rechargeable batteries?

Charging your battery might take up to 8-12 hours depending on the battery and charger. If you use an automated charger, it should turn off automatically after the battery is fully charged. Before proceeding, check sure the battery is completely charged if you're using a manual charger. You can, however, use several tools such as voltmeter and power probe to check it.

How to Check the Battery Using Voltmeter

Here is what you should do it you use a voltmeter to check the rechargeable batteries:

Step 1: Turn the car off.

Step 2: Take off the battery's positive terminal cover to ensure that the terminal is in a pristine condition. If not, clean it. .

Step 3: Connect your voltmeter by first connecting its positive side to the battery’s positive side. You won't be perplexed because a voltmeter's positive lead is normally red.

Step 4. Connect the negative section of the battery terminal to the negative voltmeter lead in step four.

Step 5: Inspect the voltmeter. If your battery is pristine, the voltage should have a number between 12.4 and 12.7 volts. If the number is less than 12.4 volts indicates that your battery needs some charging as soon as possible.

Pretty easy, right?

How to Check the Battery Using Probe Power

If you have a power probe, you can do the following steps:

Step 1: Remove the battery's terminal covering (the one for the positive side).

Step 2: Connect your voltmeter's positive section to the battery’s positive section. You won't be perplexed because a voltmeter's positive lead is normally red.

Step 3: Do the same thing for the negative section.

Step 4: Make the tip of the probe to touch the positive part of the battery terminal. Look for voltage readings on the probe.

Step 5: Confirm the result given by the Power Probe. If your battery is pristine, the voltage should be around 12.4 and 12.7 volts.

How to Check the Battery Using the Cranking of the Engine

How do you make rechargeable batteries charge again?

In order to make the battery charge again, you will need to breathe some life into it. Thankfully, there are plenty of ways you can do that, but we will discuss one simple method that can do the trick.

Step 1: Get a pair of metal tongs ready.

Step 2: Connect the negative ends of two fully charged (same kind) batteries to the negative ends of your "dead" battery.

Step 3: Using the tongs, hold them together for 30 seconds.

The method is not always successful, but when it is, the resurrected battery appears to function "normally."

As you can see above, there are plenty of methods to recharge rechargeable batteries without using the charger itself. This information might not be useful for you right now, but believe it or not, it will come handy later on in the future. Make sure to know the steps properly so that you’ll know what to do when you come across this situation!
