Some studies have found that when lithium ion batteries are rapidly charged at ambient temperatures below 50 degrees Celsius, the battery activity will decrease. During the charging process, if the lithium-ion battery is continuously heated at a high temperature of 140 ℃ for 10 minutes and then rapidly cooled, the battery can be fully charged more quickly. In addition, this charging method can charge the battery for 2500 times. Generally, the number of charging cycles of lithium-ion batteries at room temperature is 500-1300 times. This method can greatly increase the cycle life of lithium-ion batteries. At present, it is not clear why this phenomenon occurs, and no relevant scientific researchers have explained this phenomenon for the time being.
In general, cooling the battery immediately after rapid heating will lead to short circuit in the battery, but the use of thin nickel foil layer can absorb excess heat, so that the charge is evenly distributed throughout the battery pack. In short, the thin nickel foil with temperature sensor is used to connect the sensor to the switch, and the current flows through the metal foil through the switch control to heat it, so as to quickly and evenly heat the whole set of batteries, and then the battery is rapidly cooled by the vehicle's cooling system. This kind of heating is effective only when the whole battery is heated evenly. Do not try to heat the lithium-ion battery easily.
There are certain risks in heating the battery. Therefore, this measure is now explicitly prohibited in the industry, and the plan will not carry out mass production in a short period of time. In the field of battery, the extreme behavior of heating the battery to above 60 ℃ is often prohibited. Some people believe that doing so will damage the battery and significantly reduce the battery life.
Compared with the traditional on-board charging system, this temperature-controlled charging method by heating the battery takes less time and is more practical. However, until the risk of battery short circuit is solved, we can't see the mass production of this new technology for the time being. In addition, please do not try to heat the lithium-ion battery for fast charging by yourself. At least for now, this method of heating the lithium-ion battery is very risky.
