When carrying lithium battery containing devices such as mobile phones, laptops, cameras, lithium battery mobile power banks (such as power banks) for personal use, as well as a reasonable number of backup batteries required for travel, attention should be paid to:
1、 Please confirm the specifications marked on the lithium battery before boarding. The specifications of the lithium battery are calculated based on the rated energy (Wh).
Lithium batteries without specified rated energy should be converted according to the following formula.
Rated energy (Wh)=battery capacity (Ah) x nominal voltage (V)
Battery capacity unit conversion: 1Ah=1000mAh
2、 Please note: Spare batteries are not allowed to be placed in checked baggage. Please put it in your hand luggage and carry it on board.
3、 Lithium batteries and backup battery equipment with a capacity not exceeding 100Wh do not need to be declared. Electronic devices can be carried in checked baggage or carry on luggage, and a reasonable amount of spare batteries can only be carried in hand luggage for boarding.
4、 The specifications of lithium batteries or backup lithium batteries in the equipment are greater than 100Wh but not exceeding 160Wh, and should be declared to the special company for approval before boarding. The backup battery of this specification is limited to carrying only two pieces.
5、 If it is necessary to transport large-sized lithium batteries exceeding 160Wh or a reasonable quantity for personal use, one should apply for consultation with a special company for shipping.
6、 Please turn off the power of your lithium battery equipment during the flight to prevent accidental startup; Individual backup batteries are individually packaged with electrode protection to prevent self ignition caused by friction, collision, or short circuit.
7、 Do not use a power bank to charge electronic devices during the * * process. For power banks with a start switch, the power bank should always be turned off during the * * process.
8、 The transportation regulations for lithium batteries and their equipment on codeshare flights between China Southern Airlines and cooperative special companies shall be implemented in accordance with the carrier's rules. For example, according to Delta regulations, passengers are prohibited from carrying or checking in electric skateboards and all other lithium powered self balancing personal travel devices. This regulation also applies to codeshare flights operated by Delta as the carrier and China Southern Airlines as the marketer.
China Eastern Special Lithium Battery Safety Transportation Regulations
1. Portable lithium batteries: Personal portable electronic devices such as laptops, mobile phones, cameras, and spare batteries containing no more than 100Wh lithium batteries can be carried as hand luggage on board the aircraft.
2. Restricted lithium batteries: With the approval of a special company, electronic devices with lithium batteries exceeding (including) 100Wh but not exceeding 160Wh can be carried on board. Each passenger is not allowed to carry more than two spare lithium batteries of this type, and they cannot be checked in.
3. Prohibited lithium batteries
It is prohibited to carry or transport large lithium batteries or electronic devices exceeding 160Wh (excluding wheelchairs with lithium-ion batteries, please refer to the China Eastern Airlines Wheelchair Passenger Service Handling Instructions for specific regulations).
4. Protection measures for lithium batteries
Backup batteries must be individually protected to prevent short circuits (by placing them in their original retail packaging or insulating the electrodes in other ways, such as applying tape to exposed electrodes, or placing each battery in a separate plastic bag or protective box)
5. Requirements for Transporting Electric Wheelchairs
If you need to check in an electric wheelchair, for your and other passengers' safety, please pay attention to the following:
① If you are carrying an electric wheelchair, you need to arrive at the airport 2 hours in advance on the day of your flight to contact our staff for check-in procedures.
② Please pay attention to the following packaging requirements:
When electric wheelchairs are checked in, their packaging should meet the following requirements:
(a) Wheelchairs with leak proof batteries must ensure that the batteries do not short-circuit and are safely installed on the wheelchair; If the battery can be disassembled, it must be removed and transported in sturdy hard packaging as checked baggage in the cargo hold.
(b) Wheelchairs equipped with overflow type batteries: The batteries must be removed and placed in sturdy hard packaging with leak proof function to ensure that the batteries do not short-circuit, and the surrounding area should be filled with suitable absorbent materials to absorb any leaked liquids.
(c) Wheelchairs equipped with lithium-ion batteries:
Passengers must remove the battery and bring it into the cabin; The rated watt hour of each battery shall not exceed 300Wh; If the wheelchair is equipped with 2 batteries, the rated watt hour of each battery shall not exceed 160Wh; Each passenger is allowed to carry one spare battery with a rated watt hour not exceeding 300Wh, or two spare batteries with a rated watt hour not exceeding 160Wh each.
