1) What is homomorphic structure?
Homogeneous junction is a type of semiconductor device or interface that occurs between similar material layers with equal bandgap but different doping concentrations. In most cases, it occurs at the interface between n-type (known as donor doping) and p-type (known as acceptor doping) semiconductors, such as silicon. For example, n-type to n-type junctions are also considered homojunctions, even if the doping levels are different. In other words, a homojunction is a junction formed by the same semiconductor, including pn junction, pp junction, and nn junction.
2) What is a heterojunction?
1. Heterojunction is a PN junction composed of two different types of semiconductor materials, such as amorphous silicon (a-Si) and crystalline silicon (c-Si), which can form a heterojunction. However, the PN junction formed by surface diffusion doping in traditional crystalline silicon solar cells is a homojunction
2. Heterojunction cells (HJT cells) were first developed by Sanyo Corporation in 1992, based on amorphous silicon thin-film cells. They adopt a pi-n structure at the junction, which involves inserting an undoped ultra-thin intrinsic material as a passivation layer between P-type and N-type semiconductor materials. Together with the surface doping layer, it forms the window layer of the cell, similar to the emitter.
3) The difference between heterojunction cells and homojunction cells
1. Different structures: Heterojunction cells are composed of two different materials, while homojunction cells are composed of the same material.
2. Different materials: Heterojunction cells have different semiconductor materials, while homojunction cells have the same semiconductor materials.
3. Different potential barriers: Heterojunction cells have a potential barrier at the interface, while homojunction cells do not have a potential barrier.
4. Different performance: Due to the different semiconductor materials, the performance of heterojunction cells and homojunction cells is also different. Heterojunction batteries have better electrical performance and higher efficiency, but higher manufacturing costs; Homogeneous junction batteries have lower manufacturing costs, but their electrical performance is relatively poor.
Overall, both heterojunction cells and homojunction cells have their own advantages and disadvantages. In practical applications, it is necessary to choose the appropriate battery type based on specific needs and conditions.
