The traction battery used in the electric aerial work platform is generally the ordinary lead acid battery. Its important advantages are stable voltage and high cost performance. In daily use and maintenance, the following aspects can effectively prolong the service life of the battery.
Routine inspection is critical
The top of the battery and the terminal connection shall be kept dry and clean, free of dust and corrosion, so as to avoid electric leakage or short circuit fault. If the surface of the battery is dirty, clean the top, terminals and connection parts of the battery with the mixture of baking soda and water with a damp cloth or brush, and wipe them with a cloth to prevent the cleaning solution from entering the battery.
Check whether the battery cables, terminals and wires are damaged, and check whether the junction of the battery terminals and the junction of the battery terminals and the wires are oxidized and corroded. Once found, clean or replace them in a timely manner. At the same time, check whether the battery cover is deformed or heated, and handle it in time if any.
It is recommended to check the battery liquid level once a week. If the electrolyte level is too low, the battery plate and separator will be damaged, which will shorten the service life of the battery. The observation method of electrolyte liquid level is as follows: open the filling cap and check the liquid level height. If it is lower than the bottom platform in the filling cap, it means that the liquid level is too low, and it should be replenished in time. If the liquid level is parallel or slightly higher than the uppermost platform in the filling cap, it is an appropriate position.
Routine inspection
Add liquid regularly
Generally speaking, if the electrolyte level is 10mm higher than the plate electrode, it means that there is no need to add liquid. If the electrolyte level has not yet passed the plate electrode, distilled water or deionized water should be added. If too much distilled water is added, resulting in electrolyte overflow, the battery box and cable will be corroded, thus affecting the service life of the battery.
The filling frequency depends on the use and operating temperature of the battery. Generally, the longer the battery is used, the more frequently the liquid is added. Before adding liquid, take down the vent cap to fully charge the battery. If the battery plate has exposed to the liquid level, add water until the plate is just submerged before charging, and then charge and add distilled water. After filling, reinstall the vent cap on the battery.
Add liquid regularly
Standard charging
The battery shall be fully charged after each use. Do not discharge more than 80% of the capacity within 5 hours. Charge the battery when the capacity is between 35% and 80% of the rated capacity. Lead acid batteries have no memory effect, so do not discharge completely before recharging. Recharge the new battery after using it for 3-4 hours each time. The battery will emit gas (bubble) at the end of charging, so it is necessary to charge in a well ventilated area without open flame. At the same time, pay special attention not to charge the non rechargeable battery.
Canonical storage
The battery shall be fully charged before storage. The battery shall be stored in a cool and dry place free from the weather. Disconnect the equipment before storage to eliminate the potential danger of battery leakage. The battery will gradually self discharge during storage. The specific gravity of electrolyte or battery voltage shall be monitored every 2 to 4 weeks. If the battery capacity is lower than 70%, a supplementary charge shall be conducted. The storage battery shall be recharged before installation.
Pay attention to safety during maintenance
When checking and maintaining the battery, wear protective work clothes, protective gloves and goggles. No maintenance tools or other metal objects shall be stored on the battery surface. The temperature of the battery in use shall not exceed 60 ℃, and the battery shall be kept away from sparks, flames and metal objects. If the electrolyte splashes onto the skin or eyes, wash them with plenty of water, and receive treatment from a professional doctor if necessary. If the electrolyte splashes on the clothes, take off the clothes, rinse with water and then rinse with weak alkaline soap solution. When the electrolyte leaks to the outside, it can be neutralized with lime, strong carbonated soda or carbonated soda, and washed with plenty of water.
