Why do some lithium battery protection boards need to be activated
Not all lithium battery protection boards need to be activated now, only some protection ICs need to be activated, and this is an old IC solution. The old IC solution requires this to make the protection boards not work, reduce electrostatic discharge energy, and make the lithium battery stored for a longer time. That's why the design requires charging activation.
The field-effect transistor used as a protective element in the lithium battery protection board. To ensure that the battery will not be reconnected to the circuit in case of abnormalities, a special design is made to the circuit. The method is to protect the control part of the circuit. The power supply is provided behind the protective field-effect transistor, and the circuit will only operate after the protective transistor is properly conductive. Therefore, during the first use or after the protection has been generated, the protection circuit cannot function due to the subsequent power supply being disconnected and the circuit having no power supply. The battery also has no output. At this point, only by connecting the battery to the charger, using the charger to supply power to the control circuit part of the protection circuit, and the control part is powered on to work, can the battery be used normally.
How to activate the lithium battery protection board
If the protection board needs to be activated by charging or completely disconnecting the load due to current limiting protection, it may be relatively troublesome. However, it is also possible to short circuit B - (battery negative) and P - (discharge negative) to release the protection. Remember not to carry a large load (such as turning the bar continuously) when short circuiting, otherwise there may be a large spark. The fundamental reason is that a large pressure difference is formed between the two ends of the discharge MOS after protection. Short circuiting and touching directly resets the D-S level of the discharge MOS to 0V, and the protection is released at this time.
Note: It should be common for most boards, even if some do not work, touching them will not cause damage to the boards.
