Zhao Fanfei, the sales director of Infineon China, said: "In order to achieve a long working life, it is critical to prevent electrolyte leakage and water and moisture infiltration into the battery, because the electrolyte may react with water to generate hydrofluoric acid (with strong corrosivity), and long-term moisture infiltration may even cause complete battery damage."

Based on this, reliable leak detection must be performed on the power battery. At present, leakage detection methods of power battery include pressure method, bubble method and helium method. The leak detection level of the first two is 10-3mbar? L/s, the helium detection method reaches 10-11 mbar? l/s。 According to the data, check whether the power battery (core) shell leaks. The limit leakage rate should reach 10-5 to 10-6mbar? L/s.

This means that the helium detection method can meet the leakage detection level of the power battery. In this case, there are several potential leakage locations for the square power cell: the weld between the cover plate and two electrode joints and the bursting disc welded into the cover plate; Weld between cover plate and lower part of shell; Seals for electrolyte tank nozzle, etc.
