How safe it is depends on science and data.

Laboratory data shows that the self ignition temperature of a ternary battery is 200 ℃. When this temperature is reached, the material of the ternary battery will begin to melt, self ignite, and even cause an explosion. The self ignition temperature of lithium iron phosphate batteries is 500-800 ℃.

Secondly, if lithium iron phosphate batteries do not release oxygen, there will be no combustion aids. The oxidation ability of iron ions is not strong, and lithium iron phosphate batteries do not release oxygen during charging and discharging, making it difficult to undergo redox reactions with the electrolyte. This makes the charging and discharging process of lithium iron phosphate batteries in a relatively safe environment. Without combustion aids, lithium iron phosphate batteries will only emit smoke during thermal runaway.

From the test results, it can be seen that lithium iron phosphate batteries have won: ternary lithium-ion batteries burn violently, with a surface temperature exceeding 500 ℃, and the eggs on the battery surface are blown away; BYD blade batteries have no open flames, no smoke, and a surface temperature of 30-60 ℃, with no changes in eggs.
