On December 21, 2017, Chongqing Shenhua CIGS thin-film solar cell module project officially started. This enterprise, which is funded by the National Energy Group, Shanghai Electric and Chongqing Liangjiang New Area Strategic Emerging Industry Equity Investment Fund, has an annual output of 306MW, and will become the largest production line of copper, indium, gallium and selenium (CIGS) thin film solar modules in China in the future.

On January 15, 2018, Kaisheng Technology Group Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Kaisheng Group"), another central enterprise of China Building Materials, signed a contract with Xuzhou Economic and Technological Development Zone to invest in the construction of the production and equipment manufacturing project of copper indium gallium selenium (CIGS) thin film solar cells. It is reported that the first phase of the project will invest 2 billion yuan to build a 300MW solar cell production line.

In terms of local state-owned enterprises, in December 2017, Tongmei Group from Shanxi, Datong Economic Development Investment Co., Ltd. and Hanergy Group, a private enterprise that has long been in the field of thin-film photovoltaic power generation, announced that their first 50MW production line of joint investment was put into production.

In terms of construction applications, construction central enterprises, including CSCEC, have long been involved in the construction, construction and installation of photovoltaic curtain walls.

According to relevant data from the Ministry of Housing and Urban Rural Development of the People's Republic of China, building energy consumption in China accounts for about 30% of the total energy consumption of the whole society. The huge market prospect of PV building integration attracts enterprises, but whether to speed up the practical application of thin-film batteries in buildings and reduce the cost has become the key to develop this market.

According to the National Energy Group, six physical demonstration projects in Beijing, Jiangsu, Guangdong, Hainan, Sichuan and other provinces and cities will be completed from the second half of this year to the first half of next year.
