Comparison of two methods
We can see that the DC method is based on the physical formula R=U/I. Allow the battery to pass through a large constant DC current in a short period of time, measure the voltage at both ends of the battery, and calculate the current internal resistance of the battery according to the formula. This measurement method has high accuracy, and if properly controlled, the measurement accuracy error can be controlled within 0.1%. In summary, there are the following points:
1. Only large capacity batteries or batteries can be measured, while small capacity batteries cannot load a large current of 40A to 80A within 2-3 seconds.
2. When the battery passes through a large current, the electrodes inside the battery will undergo polarization phenomenon, resulting in polarization resistance. Therefore, the measurement time must be very short, otherwise the measured internal resistance value will have a significant error.
3. High current passing through the battery can cause certain damage to the electrodes inside the battery.
The AC testing method only tests the Ohmic internal resistance of the battery, and the important evaluation is the production process of the battery cell. We generally use the value of AC internal resistance to evaluate the qualification of the battery cell, and evaluate the coating effect of positive and negative electrode materials and the welding effect of electrode ears through the waveform of voltage to improve the process.
