All regions compete for layout
Recently, the leading group for energy conservation, emission reduction and climate change in Chengdu issued the 2019 Plan for the Construction of a Low Carbon City in Chengdu, proposing that 110 hydrogen fuel cell buses will be added and the demonstration of logistics vehicles will be launched.
On May 16, Chongqing Liangjiang New Area signed a contract with Degas Power, which will invest 1 billion yuan to establish a production base with an annual output of 3000 sets of vehicle fuel cell power systems and core parts. After the project is put into operation, the expected output value will reach 2.5 billion yuan. In the first phase, it is planned to build a production base with an annual output of 1000 sets of vehicle fuel cell power systems and core parts. It is reported that the first phase of the project will be officially started within the year, and 500 fuel cell vehicles will be planned to be put into demonstration operation at the initial stage.

With the joint efforts of the state and enterprises, the development of domestic hydrogen energy industry has accelerated to the goal of commercialization. According to industry insiders, the target of adding 5000 hydrogen fuel cell vehicles will be completed this year.
Policy support
In recent years, the Chinese government has continuously increased its efforts in supporting the development of hydrogen fuel cell industry and supporting the development of relevant industrial chains. As early as November 2016, the 13th Five Year National Strategic Emerging Industry Development Plan issued by the State Council clearly pointed out that the R&D and industrialization of fuel cell vehicles should be systematically promoted, and it was proposed to achieve mass production and large-scale demonstration of fuel cell vehicles by 2020.
Local governments have also successively issued relevant policies to promote the industrialization of fuel cell vehicles. Guangdong, Shanghai, Suzhou, Foshan, Wuhan and other places have issued encouraging policies.
Recently, the 2019 Action Plan for New Energy Automobile Industry in Shanxi Province issued by Shanxi Province proposed that Shanxi will rely on the existing hydrogen fuel cell vehicle related industries in Taiyuan and other cities to carry out pilot demonstration, support Taiyuan and other cities to apply for national pilot demonstration cities, and build Shanxi into a "hydrogen valley" in China. In addition, it will guide the cultivation of fuel cell vehicle industry base, build a domestic leading and international first-class fuel cell vehicle technology chain and chain, and promote the commercial development of fuel cell vehicles in the province.
Hainan Electric Vehicle and Charging Facilities Association will also plan ahead for the promotion of fuel cell vehicles and the comprehensive utilization of hydrogen energy, layout the construction of hydrogen refueling stations, speed up the improvement of the management system and construction standards for the design, construction and operation of hydrogen refueling stations, optimize the approval procedures such as construction application and acceptance, and encourage the joint construction of fuel (gas) stations and hydrogen refueling stations; Comprehensively plan the research and development of hydrogen fuel vehicles and key components, hydrogen energy injection, large-scale promotion, application and industrialization, cultivate the technology chain and industrial chain of fuel cell vehicles with international competitiveness, and build a fuel cell vehicle technology and industrial innovation system as the focus of this year's work.
Technical difficulties to be overcome
According to relevant industry forecasts, with the continuous decline of costs, the scale of the industry will expand rapidly. By 2030, the scale of automotive fuel cells is expected to reach 120 billion yuan, and the industry will witness a 100 fold growth in the next decade. In the next 5-10 years, the entire fuel cell vehicle industry will enjoy rapid development.
Mao Zongqiang, vice chairman of the International Hydrogen Energy Association, once pointed out that "the development of fuel cell vehicles is phased - first east and then west, first south and then north, first economically developed, and then to underdeveloped areas. The development of fuel cell vehicles should follow this development process." He believes that the fuel cell vehicle "came into the market" late, but it may come from behind.
There is no doubt that the development space and potential of the fuel cell vehicle industry are huge, but there is still a long way to go to achieve real commercialization.
The relevant person in charge of Guohong Hydrogen Energy said in an interview with the media that in recent years, although the state has also given considerable support to the development of hydrogen fuel cell vehicles, and also released the relevant measures for subsidies for new energy vehicles in 2009, no hydrogen energy vehicles have received subsidies so far. At present, another difficulty facing the hydrogen energy industry is the network construction of hydrogen refueling stations. "Once the vehicle is built, where is the hydrogen refueling station? If it is not, it is difficult for users to purchase hydrogen energy vehicles. If a large number of hydrogen refueling stations are built, and there are no vehicles to use, the hydrogen refueling station will not survive, which is a very big problem." The person in charge said.
Zhang Junliang, director of the Fuel Cell Research Institute of Shanghai Jiaotong University, believes that the government must strengthen the investment, guidance and standardization of fuel cell technology, increase the investment in research and development, reduce the cost of fuel cells and improve the life of fuel cells in order to achieve large-scale industrialization. He said: "If we look at the ideal state, it may reach the level of comprehensive industrialization between 2020 and 2025."
As a relatively concerned industry, the development prospect of hydrogen energy industry is widely optimistic. However, in the process of progress, the industrial development should not be eager for quick success and instant benefits. Only by taking every step of the way can we have a better future.
